Each job in this career field uses the ADMI or GEND composite, and hitting the right threshold before MEPS puts you in control of which role you land. How Logistics AFSCs Use ASVAB Composites
The Air Force doesn’t hand you a raw score and call it done. It groups ASVAB subtests into five composites and matches each AFSC to the one that fits the job’s demands. Logistics AFSCs draw from two of them:
- ADMI (Administrative): General Science + Paragraph Comprehension + Word Knowledge + Arithmetic Reasoning
- GEND (General): Word Knowledge + Paragraph Comprehension + Arithmetic Reasoning + Mathematics Knowledge
You’ll notice significant overlap. Both composites pull from Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, and Arithmetic Reasoning. That means preparing for one composite builds your score in the other at the same time.
Your AFQT score must hit at least 36 to enlist in the active-duty Air Force, that’s the baseline. The composite score is what determines which specific logistics job you qualify for.

2S0X1 Materiel Management
Composite: ADMI 44
Materiel Management specialists run Air Force supply chains. They track and issue equipment, manage inventory systems, process requisitions, and coordinate parts for aircraft and base operations. The ADMI 44 threshold reflects the administrative precision the job demands, you’re managing records and systems where a wrong part number or quantity entry has real operational consequences.
This is the largest logistics AFSC in terms of total billets. Civilian transfer value is high: supply chain management, procurement, and logistics coordinator roles all map directly from this job.
2G0X1 Logistics Plans
Composite: ADMI 44
Logistics Plans specialists coordinate movement of people and equipment for Air Force missions and deployments. They work with transportation, supply, and operations teams to build and execute deployment plans. The ADMI composite fits because the role is documentation-heavy, plans, manifests, and coordination records.
Of the four logistics jobs here, 2G0X1 has the strongest overlap with civilian project and logistics coordinator work. The planning and coordination skills transfer broadly across industries.
2T1X1 Vehicle Operations
Composite: GEND 36
Vehicle Operations specialists drive and operate Air Force vehicles, everything from tractor-trailers and forklifts to fuel trucks and flight line vehicles. Some positions include passenger transport for senior officials and distinguished visitors. The GEND 36 floor is the lowest in this cluster, reflecting that the core skill is operational rather than administrative.
It’s one of the few logistics jobs where you’re outside and moving rather than managing records. Civilian CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) holders often find the transition straightforward; those without driving experience build it during tech school.
2F0X1 Fuels
Composite: ADMI 44
Fuels specialists receive, store, test, and distribute aviation and ground fuels. They operate fuel farms, refuel aircraft on the flight line, and manage fuel quality records. The ADMI composite applies because the paperwork side of this job is substantial, every fuel transaction has documentation requirements and every test result must be logged accurately.
The job involves exposure to hazardous materials and physical work in all weather conditions. It’s one of the more demanding logistics roles physically, and it carries a direct civilian equivalent in fuel distribution and hazmat handling.
Which Subtests to Prioritize
Since ADMI and GEND share three of their four inputs, your prep covers both composites simultaneously. Here’s what moves each one.
Shared inputs (ADMI and GEND both use these):
- Word Knowledge: vocabulary. This is the fastest-moving subtest with consistent daily practice. Read widely and use a word list.
- Paragraph Comprehension: reading for main idea, inference, and detail. Short timed passages work well for practice.
- Arithmetic Reasoning: math word problems. This responds well to structured problem sets and timed practice.
ADMI-specific input:
- General Science: biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science basics. Review breadth over depth; the subtest spans a wide range.
GEND-specific input:
- Mathematics Knowledge: algebra, geometry, and number properties. This is typically the highest-effort input in the GEND composite.
If your target is any of the three ADMI 44 jobs, the fastest gains come from vocabulary and reading comprehension. For 2T1X1 at GEND 36, you likely already qualify, but a higher GEND score can make you more competitive in the assignment process.
Beyond the ASVAB Score
ASVAB composites open the door, but they aren’t the only gate. Most logistics AFSCs also require:
- Physical fitness: All enlisted airmen must meet Air Force Fitness Assessment standards. 2F0X1 and 2T1X1 have additional physical demands from working in outdoor environments.
- Driving record: Vehicle Operations may screen driving history at MEPS. Prior DUIs or serious violations can disqualify candidates.
- Background check: Most logistics roles require at minimum a National Agency Check. 2G0X1 may require a Secret clearance depending on the assignment.
- AFQT floor: 36 for high school diploma holders. GED holders need a 65.
None of these are unusual requirements, but the driving record screen for 2T1X1 catches some candidates off guard. Flag any prior violations to your recruiter early.
